Hello!
I hope that everyone has a wonderful weekend; hopefully, we will have some good weather before the rain on Sunday! Reminders: ·Redistricting meetings announced for North Fulton Two community meetings are set to address the redistricting process for two new schools in Roswell. One of the schools ("Highway 9 Elementary School") is already constructed at the intersection of Highway 9 and Thomas Drive in Roswell and is serving as the temporary location of Esther Jackson Elementary. In August 2016, the Highway 9 School will re-open with a new identity (official name TBD) to the students in its newly developed attendance zone. The newly rebuilt Esther Jackson Elementary School also will open on its original Martin Road site with a new student body. The new Highway 9 Elementary School may be a part of the Northwest Learning Community. Please note the following meeting dates and locations: November 5, 7-9 p.m. at Esther Jackson Elementary School (Highway 9 ES Site) December 3, 7-9 p.m. at Esther Jackson Elementary School (Highway 9 ES Site) Online commenting (Commenting goes live November 5) Each time a redistricting effort is under way, the school system holds a series of meetings to gather information needed to draft a redistricting proposal that best meets the community's needs. Unlike other school systems, Fulton uses a process that encourages public discussion before developing a proposal. This allows the community to have maximum input in how the proposed attendance lines are created. Following input received at these meetings, the Fulton County Board of Education is scheduled to vote on the new attendance zones in February 2016. Changes in school attendance zones will go into effect the year each new building is scheduled to open. For more information about these meetings and processes, including the criteria used to create a redistricting proposal, visit the Fulton County Schools Redistricting website.

Hello!
We made it through ITBS YAY!!!! Now back to our usual schedule! Reminders:
In order to take a preventative approach to relational aggression, New Prospect Elementary would like to invite all 4th and 5th grade girls and their moms (or a significant female role model in their life) to a special "Girls’ Night Out." Girls’ Night Out will be a fun and engaging way of bringing girls and their moms together to talk about relation aggression. The evening will begin with a pizza dinner, followed by a screening of the movie "Chrissa Stands Strong." Following the movie, there will be a presentation that will include helpful tips on how to cope with and prevent "girl bullying," and time for discussion. The evening will wrap up with a raffle! Our hope is that our young girls and their role models will walk away empowered with knowledge. Girls’ Night Out will take place on Wednesday, October 28th, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. If you would like to attend Girls’ Night Out with your fourth or fifth grade daughter, please RSVP to Mrs. McLeod – [email protected]
Level 1: Beginning Learners (do not yet demonstrate proficiency) Level 2: Developing Learners (demonstrate partial proficiency) Level 3: Proficient Learners (demonstrate proficiency) Level 4: Distinguished Learners (demonstrate advanced proficiency) It is expected that students score in levels 2, 3, or 4 to be considered on track for college and career readiness. In the areas of Reading, Language Arts, Math, Science and Social Studies (3rd-5th grades), approximately 30% of all students in GA scored as Beginning Learners, 30% scored as Developing Learners, 30% scored as Proficient Learners and 10% scored as Distinguished Learners. These results are dramatically different than recent CRCT scores; Georgia students overall are scoring lower as these tests are more rigorous with higher expectations. For a full press release from the GA Department of Education click here. We will share school level results as soon as they are available. ·Type to Learn 4 -- a great typing resource We have purchased a new program, Type to Learn 4!
